Sambas

The Regency (Kabubaten) Sambas is a site of the latest massive communal conflict in West Kalimantan between the Madurese and Malay communities in 1999. Since then many conflict resolution and -transformation efforts have been made.

The UNTAN Graduate Studies Program in Social Sciences has participated in these efforts by inviting community leaders from the main communities to classes on conflict resolution within its program of public administration. This activity has been supported by the ICSN.
The graduate studies program in public administration was launched in 2003 and is the only Social Science graduate program in Sambas.
