Assoc. Prof. Nils Ole Buband.

 

Associate Professor Nils Ole Buband:

Ph.d. in anthropology, Australian National University (1995), M.A,. Melbourne University (1991) and Bachelor, Aarhus Universitet (1987). Fieldwork on the Moluccan islands in the eastern parts of Indonesia in 1991-93, 1994, and 1996 specialicing in the relationship between witchcraft, statepower and modernity. Dr. Buband has done fieldwork on a plantation on the Moluccan Islands in 1997 in conjunction with the big forestfires in Indonesia. Furthermore, he is interested in public administration of natural resources.

Teorethical interests include historical anthropology and christianity, phenomenology and power analysis.
Regional competence: Southeast Asia and Melanesia.

In the ICSN project, Nils Ole Buband participates, together with Timo Kivimäki and Heikki Patomäki in the tutoring of Nyoman Sudira’s PhD research.
